Mountain Project
The following pictures were taken of students as they presented their mountain projects to their respected peers. The project was based around the essential question, "How do mountains enhance the lives of people?" with the objective in creating a persuasive essay and speech that examines why the mountain or range is the most important in the world, country, region, range, or to the people who live near it. Students explored various topics such as tourism, endangered animals, national parks, jobs, recreation, farming, geothermal energy, hydroelectric power, the origins of mighty rivers, myths, as well as a host of other factors that were relevant to their mountain. Students were required to include evidence and cite sources within their speech. Student research examined and explored a wide variety of mountains and ranges such as the Himalayas, Mt. Etna, Southern Alps, the Rockies, Mt. Logan and a huge host of other important mountains and ranges around the world. Students were given the choice to present their project in any manner they wished with many choosing to use the app Explain Everything. Other students, however, chose apps such as iMovie, Stop Motion, Keynote, Chatter Pix, and augmented reality apps to present their research; yet others chose to present their project using poster board and markers.
