A message from Mr. Gow
During the time students spend in my class, they will not only learn and observe the different birds that visit Blake, but participate in a citizen science project called Project eBird. Sponsored by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, eBird engages kids in a hands-on experience through the observation and recording of birds. Our bird feeding station will be the basis of our observations. As part of the experience, students will research two birds that could possibly be seen in Norfolk County. Students will then present their findings in a written and visual report.
I am excited to bring the outdoor learning experience to Blake through the lens of citizen science. Hopefully the students will walk away with a better idea of how science works as well as the greater knowledge of the birds found at Blake.
